HAND BLOWN GLASS LANTERN · Lee Seung-jeong Glass Lantern
Small lights blown by hand, resembling water droplets and stone towers
Contents: Glass lantern + brass wick + paraffin oil
This is a handmade glass lantern crafted by artist Lee Seung-jeong of Marver Glass using the blowing technique, in which glass melted in a furnace of approximately 1200℃ is blown directly to form it.
It is an interior object that serves as a mood light and an oil lamp illuminated by a wick, while on days when it is not lit, it transforms into an incense holder, diffuser container, or small vase. Discover six different shapes, ranging from small lamps to goblet lamps, stone tower lamps, and flat lamps.
ABOUT THE ARTIST · Artist Introduction
Glass blowing studio, Marver Glass · Lee Seung-jeong
I work primarily with the blowing technique, which involves directly shaping molten glass in a furnace at approximately 1200°C, exploring the physical properties and sculptural possibilities of glass. Drawing formal inspiration from natural scenes such as water droplets, ripples on water surfaces, stone towers, and moonlight reflecting sunlight, I aim to capture the movement and time of nature within the material of glass.
‘'Marver' refers to a flat, smooth workbench used in glass blowing to shape hot glass.
SMALL LANTERN · Small Lantern
Size approx. 7×7×7cm · 50,000 won
This is the most compact lantern, resembling a water droplet on the tip of a leaf. It is unobtrusive whether placed on a desk or a side table, making it a great choice for first-time lantern buyers or as a gift.
FLAT LANTERN · Flat Lantern
Size approx. 9×9×5cm · 60,000 won
The low, wide silhouette resembles the ripples on a calm surface of water. Its low height ensures it does not obstruct the view even from the dining table.
GOBLET LANTERN · Goblet Horong
100,000 won
This is a goblet-shaped lantern. It gently lifts the light, creating a subtle yet distinct presence on the table.
STONE TOWER LANTERN · Stone Tower Lantern 3-Tier
100,000 won
Like a stone tower built one by one with a wish, round glass panels are stacked in three tiers. The oil contained in the bottom tier reflects like clear water. It is perfect for placing on a shelf or by a window.
STONE TOWER LANTERN · Stone Tower Lantern 4-Tier
120,000 won
It is a tall stone tower with an additional tier built up. The long, continuous core and layered curves serve as an object that anchors the center of the space.
FLAT LANTERN LARGE · Pyeonghorong
Size approx. 20×20×7cm · 160,000 won
This is a large, flat lantern. It is the signature piece of the collection that can also be used as a tray to place incense or small objects on its wide surface when not lit.
The small cup is now available separately.
Small glass cups filled with air bubbles, handcrafted by the same artist, are featured on a separate page. When placed side by side next to the oil lamp, the two glasses reflect each other's light.

GOOD FOR · Moments like this
Housewarming · Opening Gifts As these are glass crafts individually blown by the artist, they make for a heartfelt gift.
Living mood lighting — Instead of an electronic mood light, a single small, flickering light. The light spreads between the transparent glass and the bubbles.
Incense · Diffuser Object — On days when no light is lit, use an incense holder, a diffuser container, or a small vase for a single flower.
Meditation · Yoga Space — A small ritual of lighting a fire before practice and extinguishing it afterward. It slowly calms the rhythm of the space.
HOW TO USE · How to Use
1. Gently lift and remove the brass wick from the lamp to open the oil filler.
2. Adjust the wick so that the tip protrudes only 1 to 2 mm above the brass cap.
3. Fill the opening with paraffin oil. 50ml can light the fire for about 7 hours.
4. Reinsert the wick, and light it after the oil has fully soaked into it.
Good to Know
Please always keep the wick short at 1–2 mm. If it gets too long, the flame becomes larger and soot is produced.
When using it for the first time in a while, please light it after gently trimming the burnt end of the wick.
Do not leave the light on, and avoid flammable objects such as curtains or paper.
Sudden temperature changes and strong impacts put strain on the glass.
Each piece is hand-crafted using the glassblowing method, so the location and shape of air bubbles vary slightly. Small black dots within the glass are also natural traces of the production process; they are not defects and do not affect usability.
FAQ · Frequently Asked Questions
How do you use a glass oil lamp?
Remove the wick, fill it with oil, shorten the wick to 1–2 mm, reinsert it, and light it. 50 ml of oil will keep the flame burning for about 7 hours.
Do wicks and oils come with it?
Yes, all lanterns come with a brass wick and paraffin oil, so you can use them immediately upon receipt. Once used up, you can refill them with colorless paraffin oil (lamp oil).
Can it be used for other purposes without lighting a fire?
Yes, you can freely use them as interior objects such as incense holders, diffuser containers, and small vases, depending on your taste.
Do the shapes or bubbles vary slightly from piece to piece?
Yes, since every piece is hand-blown using glassblowing, the location and shape of air bubbles vary slightly. The small black dots inside the glass are also natural traces of the production process and do not affect usability.
How is it different from a camping oil lamp or a vintage lantern?
Unlike mass-produced paraffin camping lanterns, this is a handmade craft piece individually blown by artist Lee Seung-jeong. It is ideal for use as an indoor interior object or for providing soft lighting in meditation and yoga spaces, rather than for outdoor use.
Is it suitable as a housewarming gift?
Yes, since these glass crafts are completed one by one by the artist's fingertips, they make perfect gifts for newlyweds' housewarmings or business openings. If you are giving a gift for the first time, I recommend the small or flat lanterns.
